Removing Tow Bar

  1. #1
    Hi all.

I have a towbar on my saxo, and I've got a mate round, we're trying to remove it. I've managed to get the towbar eye off, but is the second part (the bit that the caravan plus goes into (for lights etc). Is it wired into the battery or anything, or will it literally unbolt and come away, as I don't want to start removing it, only to find that it needs the wiring removed etc.

    Cheers for any help

If its wired in it should be easy to follow the cable under the car.

The tow bar should bolt in about 3 places, one behind where the reg plate is (but from under the car if that makes sense), one under the car to the right of the reg plate but on a sort of arm thats part of the chasis and one towards the back of the boot. All should be big nuts and bolts that are pretty easy to remove.

If you can get a pic of the setup i can tell you how to get it off as i fit and remove mine all the time.

I had one on mine and i just removed the entire mounting that goes to the chasis and i snipped the cable and insulated them. Took bout 5 mins including lowering spare...but those can be ba***rds.

If you're taking the towbar off and junking it, do you fancy selling it?

The wiring for the lights is normally wired into one of the back light units. Not sure which side though.
