fitted scorpien back box and got rid off middle silncer in the standed center section (got a it removed) and diy decated my mrk 2 vtr buy taking the manifold off and smashing all the stuff out the cat lol but refitted it all look a lot beter with the smaller tail pipe off the scorpien exhaust just it not loud is it because off the shape off the cat caseing...? just woundering dont want to get a 4 branch yet just going to wait till vts is droped in at christmas

...... i want pops and bangs i sould get this with the vts

heya,

we seem to be in the same boat. I have a '03 vtr that a few months ago i treated to a cat back Imola system. (3.5inch_).

it isn't loud at all, but it isn't designed to sound like a s1600 car! its just a fast road manufacture that focus more on improving aesthetics and performance than sound.

i will be shortly adding a supersprint 4-2-1 decat to the car so i will keep you updated on whether it is worth doing same.

(this isn't my idea...) i heard if you take the rear box off, pour petrol inside and light it the mesh looking baffle inside will choke up improving sound...but that sounds abit chavvy!

Scorpions are not known for that at all.

Should have just sold it to get a supersprint, if you want it to sound like a VTS you will need a VTS engine thats teh only way.

could have got £40 for your manifold downpipe with the cat in as wel, instead of smashing the shit out of it.

at the end of the day we all own road cars right? so why not buy a scorpion, after all they fit perfect and are fully guaranteed. Supsersprint systems are for race/rally cars which i dont think anyone uses everyday!

all that pop & bang stuff everyone wants is only achievable by properly tuning a car. no exhaust only mod will produce an 'anti-lag' effect!

hence why barely anyone has one

scorpion isnt the best fitting exhaust either off the shelf, pieces together nicely but 9/10 times will need the hanger re welding to sit snug.

your totally wrong buy saying low down deep tone is non chav, that is the ultimate chav exhaust tbh, all you can hear from miles away is bbbbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa then some shitty car coming by.

get the mk1 manifold (down pipe) wider no cat and nice tone. make a full system with i new model straight through pipe, is standard but for the 1.1 ones with good emissons so they dont have centre box or cat. i got it and it amazing... ask me neigbours!1!

dont have to waste money get yourself on ebay, bought a full system with 4-2-1 manifold piper backbox and supersprint c/s all for £140 virtually brand new and looks and sound mint, performance was much improved too

well, you obviously are a chav with a high defense mechanism.......

also, if i may point out that Scoprion full system cost me £265 which is alot cheaper than others e.g. Magnex & Piper.

secondly, i have had experience with Piper before and they are truley awful exhausts!

i suppose the conclusion to our rant is that unless you are prepared to buy the full system and do a proper job you will bever be happy with it.

Backboxes to me are the most pointless mod (with the exception of neon washer jets!!!!) as their only jo is to make your 1.1 forte sound like a VTS.

anyway i have wasted too much time on this..
