caming a vtr

    my 98 vtr has just under 90,000 and i was wondering if i cammed it would i beed to change any thing else,lifters etc? cheers for any advice

    u would need to have full exhaust system (inc. decat & mani), sorted induction system, full service (no point in spending thousands on a dump!) and then an ECU remap, then you will need to worry about suspension & brakes too to balance out the performance

    so in other words, before you buy cams do all the above!

    yea thats already done m8 and the motor has a full service history aswell

    not really.....

    the above just helps get the best gain.

    depending on cam you dont need a remap (on some piper models).

    most importantly, youll need a venier pulley

    all i was getting at is there is not much point in camming a vtr unless you have other mods aswell. Piper claim a +10bhp increase however this figure is only achievable when combined with the mods i said....

    but it's you motor mate!

    since when do u need a DE-CAT to cam a saxo? makes no difference. i would advise a good exhaust systema dn an induction kit to get it breathing properley but i wouldnt of thought a DE-CAT was neseccery?

    he has already done induction, decat and exhaust plus suspension brakes etc,,, thts why he is thinking of camming it, piper 285 cam would be nice bud!
