piper cams

    hi i was told when i brought my vts that it had piper cams fitted,iv taken one of the cam covers of to try and find out what cams are fitted i can't see any markings on the cams to tell what cams they are,where would the markings usualy be

    Should be BP285 but mine were on the end of the camshaft

    when you say top end do you mean the end the pullys are on?

    Unfortunately yeah. Means there is no way of telling with the cams fitted in the head.

    I'm afraid mate these days you should never take anyone's word.

    Hope you do have them fitted, I would have asked for receipts and/or show evidence of them fitted.

    the guy i brought it from did say he wasnt 100% sure if it has piper cams it was just what he was told aswell,i need to find out coz if it aint got them im gona invest in sum cat cams.

    Only way is by removing cam pullies and seeing if end of shafts are stamped.

    Unless your doing it yourself it could be an expensive 2 second check.

    No reciepts or anything? Can you not feel it? one way I tried mine, very unscientific was to take it through the entire rev range.

    I have piper 285 cams, the note and pull of the engine changes at about 3k and becomes more frantic goes mad at 5k and then hits the limiter at 8k.
