My Demo progress thread (Bike)

    Hey just thought i would make a thread to kick off my specialized demo 8 build,
    So it was time for a new project bike, and this beast took my fancie
    And with its price tag at £2400 and crap spec for my liking i decided to look for a frame set on ebay



    So after around 3 months of looking for a demo frame and £500 lighter i came up with this beast


    i was getting pretty sick of seing this frame sitting in my room so i decided to get some forks and brakes sorted out

    So i dug my marzocchi monster ts from the back of the garage in a bit of a state and decided sunday night to spray them


    mo they looked quite good so time to crack on with some more parts, i had searched around for a decent set of brakes when i came across these

    Hope front and rear 6 pot! hydraulic adjustable brakes with 8 inch disc rotors, i thought great! and saw the price tag to match £400! so i looked around and found a brand new set for £360 so i was happy!

    With my frame and forks ready and brakes on there way i decided time for some wheels and nice tyres to match, i saw some halo tornados on a lads bike whilst out and thought i had to have a set so i orded these came in at just over £200

    so to go with them a set of maxxis high roller 2.7 inches wide 24 inch in diameter

    By wednesday my brakes had arrived along with my wheels and tyres!


    I have to say im really impressed with the quality of these brakes and well worth the money
    Time for more parts!

    Nice building coming on there.

    But i wouldn't be surprised to see it come out at about 60lbs...

    Reminds me, i must start riding again.

    You going to tidy the rear brake cable?? Those moto's are soo powerful! Iwould have gone for halo sas's myself but these tornado's are nice

    I liek tornados had them before and trust them would have prefer white tbh but oh well , im riding round hemlock when shes finished ilkeston nottingham area ? you ?

    OKay so iv been thinking it out and im not happy with the weight or size / looks of my forks so after my mate wanting them im selling them him for £100 XD iv got my eye on a set of marzocchi 888 rcv 2007 going to have a look tomorro and you never no i might just bring them home ;P

    Well i couldnt not have these for my build, improved the stance and made the bike lighter! can you guess whats new?







    But enterd a problem no front brake now! forks are post mount and i orded
    a IS mount caliper, time for a adaptor, no brake for now tho


    Missplaced my rotor bolts to, well i stupidly left them on the drive because i only put 2 in each disc to test fit and i left them out at night oh well

    lol it only cost about 400 notes I think, but haven't had to replace anything yet so it's not too bad nothing compared to your beast though

    nice bike mate, built a few bikes myself i use to have a santa cruz bullit, curtis, 24 seven and have had loads of dmrs !

    expensive hobby tho when things break!

    i was a member but never go on it anymore. the curtis got stolen and i sold the bullit

    24 is sitting in the shed as i lost my sponsership when the curtis got nicked so dont really ride anymore lol

    okay update ...
    Getting kind of bored of building them demo now, founds running low
    So i heard this lad had a 3 inch tyre going cheap so a 2 hour journy and i came back with this Nokian gazza 24 x 3.0



    So thers the demo as stood yesterday will upload pictures of the brake mount my mate dropped off this morning

    Okay around £150 from finishing the demo and iv hit a problem

    My right finger and ebay...


    So as it stands now iv just brought a Orange 222 frame ! £300 a steel

    Will upload pictures when i get them for now google it if you dont no what one is

    oh right iv bent my hope already but got it replaced shimano arnt exacly the dogs bollox either and the hope are 10 / 10 for looks and quality imo

    Looking at buying orange 224 frame to replace the demo aswell as building my new 222 frame up

    yer your right the hope ones look sexy but shimano are decent quality/cheaper.

    doesnt spose it makes that much difference tbh. i just know of a few people who have had trouble with them. oh and orange frames are lusssssshhh. get it sprayed in st orange
