Drains for sunroof Buggered

  1. #1
Basically my sunroof started to leak and at first i thought it was the ariel so i sealed that but still leaking so i have now sealed the rubber seal into the frame of the sunroof and removed the headliner from inside of my car and have found that the sunroof drains must have been blocked at some point in time as the water had over time managed to rust through and create small pinhole sized holes which the water is coming through like a siv. (sp)

Sorry about the essay but basically has anybody ever had their sunroof blanked over as in had the sunroof removed and had it welded over?

Have searched for threads but after 15+ pages found nothing.

Many thanks for any help given.

Could you not just unblock the drains?

i have already but because they have corroded their way into my car it just comes straight through the car instead of draining away properly

fit new pipes, then silicone where it has corroded, the results you would have found have pictures where spencer i think it was sealed his sunroof drains.

I used to have a leak in my saxo it came from the bottom of the window pillar though.

When i removed my sunroof to fit my cage i noticed rust around near the sunroof drain holes, bit of a shit design if you ask me.

If fitting a non sunroof roofskin was cheap enough i would do it.

Might be a right bugger replacing it if you havent got a cage fitted holding the rest of the car in place when the old skin is removed.

Your right, it is a shit design. The drain holes are high up so the water sits there and rusts the metal. Stupid french.

Just fit a non sun roofed skin...

Mines in tomorrow to have one fitted. Around £130 for the skin plus fitting/spraying cost
