forged pistons

  1. #1
ive seen some cheap forged pistons with standard rods for sale for a vts

this is the description: wossner, 78.50mm and 9:1 c/r

I heard on ssc that the vts and vtr pistons are the same size and to get forged pistons for a vtr you have to get vts ones as they dont make them for vtr's.

can anyone tell me if this is true.

and if so do the rods from a vts fit the vtr and if not do the standard vtr rods fit the forged pistons.

Only get one piston type for both VTR/VTR (obviously different bores and compressions).

So you buy the same piston weather you have a VTR/VTS.

However, the way the standard pistons fit the standard rods is different. So if you get forged pistons for a VTR, you'll either need some VTS pistons or forged pistons.

Can't remember which is which, but as standard one has floating pin fitment, and the other has gudgeon pin - hence the need for VTS rods if you get forged pistons.

so if i get forged pistons vts pistons they will fit my vtr if correct bore and compression.

and if i get forged rods for a vts to fit the piston will the rods fit the vtr engine.

    You've got a VTR?

In order to fit in the VTR, you'll either need OE VTS rods, or forged rods.

The crank is the same for both 1.6 engines - so the fitment for the rods at the crank end is the same - just at the piston end thats different.
