extra lamba

  1. #1
how do i wire in an addional lamba to use for my afr gauge. Is it just a case of connecting the relivent wire to a switched positve and same for eart, then a wire to the gauge.
  2. #2
    anyone?

How may wires does yours have? Does your gauge come with the correct plug and or wiring diagram. You actually have to plug the O2 sensor in to the main 12V power feed.

bassicly ill be using a spare standard lamba and wiring to the gauge, the gauge has pos, neg and lamba feed. think the standards are 4 wire aint they?

Your 4 wire standard lambda has two wires for the heater, so the other two are the +ve and signal. To keep the life of the lambda up, you should heat the sensor, so i wouldnt ignore these wires.

back to top, could do with a simple that wire goes to here and that to there answer is possible

Dont know how to make it any clearer tbh other than a diagram

If you know what the supply voltages of the standard sensor are already, you wont need to do the checking below.

Check the voltage of the wires for the heater in the lambda (on the standard sensor in the car), this is the value you want to have going to the heater on the extra lambda you're using and you want to have that voltage switched so that it only starts to heat the sensor when you turn the ignition key.

Check the voltage of the wire for the +ve supply to the standard sensor, this is the value you want to have going to the extra lambda, this needs to be switched like previous.

Then just connect your signal wire from the sensor to the gauge, and your gauge more than likely will have a +ve and earth, and possibly a wire for backlight to connect.

That should be your narrowband readings sorted.
