saxo won't start

  1. #1
hows it going fella's. have a 1.1 saxo and ashamedly don't know a lot about cars. anyway have a bit of problem. last few days when starting the car, it has needed 2 or 3 goes before would start up. then this evening would not even get antwhere near close to starting up. when i put the key in the ignition the radio comes on which makes me think its not the battery. any ideas whats going on here? thanks in advance. the oil seems ok also

erm possibly your choke aint kicking in properly if its having problems starting or maybe even good idea would be to check condition of ur spark plugs so what condition there in, if that fails get ur battery tested or even ur starter motor cos even if u have faulty battery there is prob enough power inside it for ur cd player but not to necessarily fire up ur engine

yeah it is worse when its cold outside, but i don't think its the regulator( if thats what its called) because had a problem with that before and it had to be replaced, anyway i unlpugged that and it still wouldn't start.

should i try jump start it today?
  8. #8
a jump start would narrow it down to the engine if it makes no difference, but if the jump start helps then maybe there is a bad connection somewhere.

I have same problem atm and need a new starter motor when i get paided they like 20.00 on ebay. Anyways find the starter motor as it could be slipping. Its located at the back of the engine under the airbox i think , give it a tap with a hammer a few times towards the left if looking onwards to the engine and see if it helps

could be the fuel pump not getting the petrol to the motor
thats what it was on my car when it wouldnt start

Hi All, I have a 97 1.1x Saxo (less to go wrong). Unfortunately Friday afternoon brought the doom of a starting issue.
I have done as follows - got in the car and tried to start it. No signs of any issues but will not fire.
The immobiliser turns green, the fuel pumps makes it whizzy noise but it will not fire and no amount of pressing the accelerator pedal will make any difference! Any ideas?

Please make your own thread instead of bumping all the old "car won't start" ones.

Try very slightly pressing the gas pedal as youre starting it. I have to do that every time and starts first time doing it.
