cambelt

i got a saxo vtr and i dont know when the cam belt was changed last so i was thinking of getting it changed

after reading the haynes manual it seems pretty easy to do it yourself?

would you say go for it by following the steps from the haynes manual? as it seems easy by that!

    BUT

i been looking at the newman cam to put in my engine and i been told that the cam can be changed without removing the head, just loosen the head bolts but then you might aswell change the head gasket as it will be disturbed after loosening the head bolts

i been told that on a high lift cam the timing is slightly different is that correct? so im guessing that you wouldnt use the timing lock on the head?

    opinions from all please

High risk thing to do though, if it snaps then you're fucked.

Changing the tensioners makes the job harder too I've heard

i know its a high risk but surely if you get the tension tool you could do it? no?

TBH if your not very experienced at it i wouldn't bother,
It may sound easy but if you fuck it up you will of wished you paid someone who knows what they are doing,
If your getting your cams fitted you may as well pay them to do the belt at the same time
