Hydraulic bonnet struts

  1. #1
Around about 3-4 months ago i snaped the clip under my bonnet that holds up the bonnet mount. im wondering if anybody on here has fitted hydraulic mounts to there saxo. Firstly, is it possible? and which ones are best to use? i was thinkin about getting a pair of the boot ones and trying to fit them into the engine bay/bonnet. i no its abit of a pointless mod mind but i fancie doin it if i can.

i have read somewhere that it can be done but you need to reinforce the wings
And you will have to weld the plates onto the struts,
Not 100% sure but i think thats what needs doing

tbh instead of using boot struts

106 gti have these for the bonnet as standard iirc so you should get some of those

job requires welding a plate somewhere for the strut cos it doesnt have anywhere to go atm

you have to reinforce the bonnet edges as the struts are very strong and will twist the bonnet if you dont.you have to weld the correct plate with the ball on the end to the strut top and the same on the bonnet. its alot of work but if your under the bonnet fiddling alot for tuning and things its a good mod as its alot safer.

i have got them fitted on mine and nothing needs to be reinforced to fit them, the wings should not be reinforced as they do not fit on the wings. Mine were fitted to the top of the struts. As long as u get the ball joints that go on the bonnet they will fit fine.
