Re-profiled cams

whats the views on a pair of re profiled cams from kent for my vts people? ABP do em for about £220 i think, givin approx 15+ bhp, the kent/piper brand new cams made from blanks are about £500 ish n they claim a gain of 20-25 bhp. just wondered if the re-profiles are worth a shot as am not very brassed up!

if you get 5bhp ill be impressed, cams on their own cant give much bhp as they need better breathing mods to compliment them ie more air in more exhaust gas out. So headwork, high flow filter, free flowing exhaust etc.

and you will gain more with a blank than you will from a reprofile.

what power d you think id be lookin at with full system, decat, manifold n a BMC then mate? then with these mods + cams n a re-map? am just tryin to find the best route to go down n power il be getting coz i want this little sax to shift my man

depends on the cams you get but if you got it all done id expect around 20-30 and a lot better car to drive, rev happy etc.

so basically, add a manifold, cams n re map to mods ive already got n i should be pumpin approx 150 ish bhp out? now i need about a fukin grand to do it with

depends on what else you have, if you dont have head work then you wont get massive gains poss 140, but the car will seem so much better, its best to stay away from figures unless your really up there and are looking to get them (ie turbos and superchargers who are chasing big power, then you should chase these figs, no point in saying ive got x amount from cams etc because there is only so much you can get)

figures on paper are normally a load of bollox anyway arnt they, might aswell do the mods, get it set up n rip it down the 1/4 mile n see what times/speeds come up

A lad i saw up york had a saxo wiv just manifold,full cat-bk system,enclosed filter and a chip and he was running under 15 seconds every time he ran on the 1/4 m8 with his best at 14.6! A lot of people wiv 182 clios and 2.0litre corsa`s were well shocked!

They respond really well to breathing mods m8!

YEAH IT DOES MATE! ITS ALL ON THE START! I JUST RODE THE CLUTCH LIKE MAD TO TRY AND STOP WHEELSPIN AS MUCH AS I COULD! WOT TIMES YOU HAD GAF M8 BET ITS HARD TO GET TRACTION WITH 200+BHP AND FWD.

only ever done one time and the car was running shit,14.5 secs,i should be easily getting into 13s,but the wheel spin is hard to control
