    i have a friend with a problem(peugeot 106 owner)
when she starts the car it sounds like its squeeling. it only last for about 20-30 seconds. when she puts her foot on the clutch it stops the squeeling some of the time.

when she is driving and it starts to squeel the car is slower
    what could this be

    its quite important, so asap

    thanks Rob

it happens to my car its worse when its cold but once it gets warm it quietens dwn. when u put the clutch down the noise stops?

ive been told its the clutch release bearing.
ive also been told to wait untill it eventually goes or the noise gets that loud it drives me mad lol as to cahnge the baring u need to take off the whole clutch so it is adviced to change the clutch aswell to stop the clutch screwin the new release bearing up.

i only saying wot ive been told when i took mine down the garage for it.
    hope its helped.

Ya dont have to take the clutch off to change the release bearing. Just the gearbox

Ive had this problem, on my vts, it was the crankshaft pulley, they are a really poor design and its a common problem. When you press the clutch pedal some load is taken off the crank pulley / belt therefore it doesnt slip. Gmc motorsport make a billet aluminium one and its cheaper than the main dealer part.

    Hope that this helps
