Citroen AX GTi Gearbox

Just a quick few questions. Possibly purchasing one of these soon, rebuilt and
stuff. But where do they stand against the 106 S2 GTi box/S1 XSi box/S1 Rallye
    box, final drive wise?

Ive heard they are very similar to an S1 XSi box but would rather be sure before
buying. Thank in advance. Mr Rush.

think they are the same as a 1.4xsi box mate.

Will go check ssc for you.

I know they are fairly short.

    AX GT 1360 20CA28

Think CA28 is the code you need 99.9% sure

    http://www.saxosportsclub.com/Forums...t=gearbox.html
^ one for sale with LSD £700

Also says its basically the same as a s1 rallye box doesnt say if shorter or longer.

Ah the ultimate find in my IE favourites.

Here you go dude this should clear it up

Click Me For MA Gearbox Ratios
^ not a full list of gearbox's mind, but had a fair few

    GT Box 2CA28 Final - 16 65 4,06250

    1.4 Xsi Box 2CB15 Final - 14 60 4,28571

Just need the code from a S1 Rallye box to compare

I can find the final drive for it.

Only thing with an ax gt box is its getting old now. So more then likely need a full rebuild.
Also not sure on the speedo if its electronic or cable? was reading something on it when searching for the ratios. I had an ax box not sure what one think was a 1.1 and it had an electronic speedo (i didnt fit it mind got sent it by mistake off the pikeys)

The one Im looking at was rebuilt 2000miles ago. My Pug tuners Des are going to check the
box over before fitting so tis cool.

I will find out about the electronic speedo thing. Dude cant thank you enough!

Alexr's Gearbox code thread is always useful, shame that site i linked above doesnt have a full list

Note that suzukitraining website has a few guides for torsion bar and changing 5th gear and someother stuff.

Done a fair bit of reseach and found on a website that the final drive of the AX GTI box
isnt that much different from the GTi box! Rush is very upset!

I also found out that the GT and GTi box are the same!

    yes they are the same

    gearbox itself is speedo cable
but can buy a speedo sensor(which is a dodgy white & in all saxos/106 gearboxs around the back of the gearbox i think) just fit that and wire in to use electric drive

some ax boxes dont fit newer ma engines, they had a diffrent starter motor set up.

What about the gear ratios though Rushy? The FD figure on its own is irrelevant without them. It may well perform similar to the S1...

When my AX GTi box packed up I fittted a VTS box, didn't notice any difference TBH.

Think the final drive was suppose to be slighty, slighty different...

AX GTi box is same as 106 xsi.

AX GTs came with a few different boxes, some same as vts/gti, some shorter some longer. Older GT boxes won't fit as the bellhousing is different, and they have much smaller bearings, and are generally shit.
