Supersprint is good and raspy and can get from kam racing on here. Do you want a full system including manifold...or just Catback?
  3. #3
Supersprint - Quite Loud and Raspy
Magnex - Alot more quiet ...
Piper - Louder than the Supersprint IMO ...

    1 question : why ??
  8. #8
thanks guys, im looking for a cat back system. I had a powerflow decat on my mondey ST24 and that wasnt loud till you booted it. not really after making my saxo sound like a scooby cos it dont go like a scooby lol.

also this is going to be a really novice question but if i fit a manifold will that decat the exhaust anyway?

I used to have a piper on mine. Just the back box and decat. Here's a little video of it when it was on

Not the best quality because it was taken on a digital camera. Used to pop on deacceleration and didn't sound chavvy

Doing exactly the same thing as my rear silencer box sheared through where it joins to the centre pipe (common problem) and read most of the posts on here to try and get fully rounded advice. In summary.....

For starters lets go through what you have, theres a manifold, your cat section, centre pipe with silencer and rear silencer box. so 4 bits.

Performance wise a 4-2-1 or even 4-1 manifold will make a big difference but is expensive.

Next you have your cat section which needs to be there to pass your MOT emission tests but can be replaced with either a race cat (expensive again) or just a straight through section to maximise power. (cheap)

Centre section with silencer is easily replaced with a straight through section. (Cheap and common)

Finally your most common option is just to replace the rear silencer with an aftermarket box, many of which are previously listed. Focusing on this nearly all race boxes are designed to produce a louder, racier note. Stainless steel is a better option than mild steel as they corrode pretty quick and they arent cheap.

My advice (as Ive had one previously and Im getting another fitted to my current car tomorrow) is to go for a hand built longlife stainless steel version which are guaranteeed for life. Not only can you choose rear only, cat back, manifold on, or full system, but you have a choice of loads of tailpipes and you can choose the sound you want!

suprised the bandwagon effect hasnt been in force lol
    supersprintsupersprintsupersprintsupersprint!!!!!! !!!!

they are a good system but i would say the guys advise so far is sound

i like the piper im currently running its a tad loud but has a good note to it (kinda burbles in the low range and raspy when hammering it aswell as popping quite well)
also looks smart (and piper have a good range of exit styles to pick from) the construction quality is good and even in mild steel (like mine is) i cant see ay signs of corrosion yet

thanks very much everyone i settled for a magnex in the end and love it.

nice loud sound below 4000 revs and gets quiter above so not so intrusive

Used to have straight through pipe, no silencers, no cat, and a backbox with no baffles, it was loud. Very loud. So to anyone wanting noise, do that.
Then went for a 3" Pugsport (they fit a Saxo dont they? So it counts), its got 1 silencer, and baffles in the backbox, and it sounds almost standard, 82db.
