    Dont polish it mate!!

Sand it down, to get rid of the flaking rust etc, and prime it, then spray it any colour you want, same coluor as the car looks good, or just a simple black!

Easy enough to do with a few spray cans from halfords!!

vtr covers are steel so you cant polish them up like vts ones which are ally or alloy? if you want the polished look iv seen chrome covers on ebay i think, or you could get your cover chromed but i wont be cheap

as said they dont polish up need chrome plating

i can supply most engine bay nuts for the
    vtr and vts
and also the correct bolts to fit a c2 cam cover on a vts

can supply in either stainless steel or bright zinc plate which is like a chrome type finish

have a look for me on 106oc in the forsale section to see what i can offer

to fill in any imperfections, also gives the paint a base to stick to..

if your sanding it all back you will need a good self etch primer
upol do one in an aerosol, halfords used to sell it not sure if they still do though

let it dry properly, this tme of year it will take an age outside, so i clear a shelf in the boiler cupbaord and use that to dry them on

then flat it back to get it smooth, then spray what ever color you want
