Fitting manifold = FAIL!!!!

    I have a MK2 VTR (3 plug)

    Bought a secondhand mani a while ago, I think it's a supersprint, definetly not a raceland

    During the fitting today we found that its touching the oil filter thought supersprint were suposed to fit without changing to a mk1 filter?

    I thought you had to move it so its where mk1's are

    regardless of the manifold

    i was about (not really doing much really lol)
    and its hard against the filter
    and its instantly melted through the plastic cover on top of the filter

    absolute bitch

    (btw the 1 branch is unwrapped as the lads were trying to get a proper heatsheild between them befroe you ask)

    So you fitted it knowing its hitting the filter housing but still started the car up?

    For the sake of the price of a mk1 filter and the sleeve needed its a simple fix.

    Much better than them shitty paper filter elements aswell.

    Mine is exactly the same mate - slightly wedged against the lower metal part of the oil filter. I've had my Supersprint fitted for about 10 months and the oil filter/ housing hasn't taken any hurt at all. Are you definitely sure its melted the housing? Is it not just some excess oil on the top?

    FWIW, the Supersprint 4-2-1 should fit a MK2 VTR with CAT in the manifold.

    sorry to hijack but what paint is that on your rocker cover? and were did you get it from?

    I have a supersprint fitted and it looks like this too, where the sensor goes in is touching the oil filter. Been like this for about a year and it's been fne.

    my supersprint was well clear of the filter

    is it defo a supersprint?

    i heared janspeed and miltek needed the filter changing to a mk1 too?
