Door pin removal

  1. #1
    Hey guys and girls.

Im going to apologise in advance as i know im going to sound like a bit of a tit here. lol. But i am new.

I think its a really good idea to remove the door pins, and with the rubber grommets it does look really good. But how would you lock and unlock the door? I have remote central locking on mine, would it still lock/unlock as normal but without the pin coming up and down?

I have tried using the search but couldnt find an answer.

    thanks alot

yeah it will work exactly the same just without the pin moving.even if you didnt have central lockin it would be the same. it was one of the first things i did cause i had a saxo without central locking and i got out the passangerside put th pin down then shut the door but left the keys on the seat.the saxo is so easy to break into though i used a wooden door wedge and some string to break into mine.lol

Ive checked on the guide but im hopeless at DIY and the guides always make it look soooo easy! haha. also, ive seen on here the rubber grommet size and order number from Halfrauds but cant seem to find it again, dont supose anyone has the link?

    Much appreciated guys

you have to take the full lock assembly out to do it wich is jus the 3 40torx sckrews in the side of the door.

what did you use to cover urs?
  9. #9
i just bought assorted grommits fro halfrauds and found the right size lol
  10. #10
Lol. and u dont happen to know what the correct size is do you?

... i did see it somewhere the exact size to get, and the part number from halfrauds cant find it

ye mk1 one is fairly easy, took me like 20 mins for the first door pin cos i didnt have a clue what i was doing but then took like 2 minutes for the 2nd door, all you have to do really is push backwards a bit and it will click out of place. i put my window down so i could have a proper look. as it says on the guides, i used a 13mm rubber grommit from halfords, even though i think a 12mm grommit may fit better but cant find one anywhere

excuse me .... Anyways to prevent this other than an alarm. Youve ruined my peace of mind. lol

    lol Sowwie....

If you have an alarm and they bend the door it SHOULD still go off as most alarms work on motion sensors which can tell if the air in the car has been disturbed, which opening the car would do.

but yea, bending the door from the top and dropping somthing in to lift the door pin is the quietest way to get into a car

God, never knew that. lol. Well my alarms stupidly sensetive so i should be ok.

Some times the boot does lock by the remote though, and i dont have a key? anyone know what to do?

Scrap yard for a new boot lock with key???

Failing that check the central locking unit on the boot and make sure all is secure etc and working properly.....

My old saxo also used to do this and didnt allways want to lock via the key but i just got a whole new central locking system and sorted the problem lol

10mm closed grommet fitted perfectly in the holes left in my mk2!

Best way i found to remove is... remove door cards, bend pins in towards centre of car, hacksaw off the end of the pins (close to the pin), cut waterproofing on doors, grap remainders of pin and bend it into the middle of the door, then it just unclips from the door locking motor!

Didnt remove the door latch myself, bruit force wins again! lol

Oh and duct tape up the hole you made in the door waterproofing sheet!
