when your straightline racing, at what speeds do you change gear?
like at --mph change from 1st to second then at --mph change from 2nd to third.
say what car and what speeds
    cheeers
  2. #2
its more to do with the rpm than speed mate
it varies from car to car and will vary with the mods on that car also
  3. #3
im just wondering like what effects different mods have and stuff, cos i heard that the 106 gti redlines before 60 in second, but my vtr does like 60 in second even though its a less powerful engine. different gearing ratios, engine mods, and if you have removed the limiter or not
  4. #4
alex is right, you should change when you hit your peak power which for me is 6600rpm.but it does vary car to car.
  5. #5
    no it doesnt hit 60
    saxo speedo is inherently incorrect

a 106gti is basically a vts wirth different looks

    and the vts wont either

and the final drive in a vtr is longer.

hahahaha, a bit of controversy to liven up your sunday?

ok a rephrase at what rpm do you get peak power?

    cheeeeeeeeeeeeeers
  11. #11
    depends on the car

for example ill use mine and dans saxos similar specs (both with a mildish cam and ramap on mani ect)
    1bhp difference (im 152 dans 153)
    dan peaked at 6600
    mine was 6800

so that would be the shift point
  12. #12
so to find out ur shift point u will need a rolling road
  13. #13
    basically yes
but playing about you can feel where a good point is on your car

peak power in a mk2 VTR is at 5500rpm

peak torque in a mk2 VTR is at 3500rpm

well thats what the RR results said for my mk2 VTR when it was standard

Buy a vbox, hook it up to your car and go for a run.
