vtr throttle bodies (need quick response)

  1. #1
are these throttle bodies for a mk1 or mk2 as the inlet spacings are different.
also how do you modify the throttle cable to fit.
  2. #2
looks to be for the later vtr engine
  3. #3
Off subject wasnt these on ebay as i wanted to know if they would on fitted mine but was sold next day..
  4. #4
been looking at throttle bodies for my vtr, been told it would make turn a 98bhp vtr into 128bhp is that correct?? 30bhp seems a bit over the top imo?

    to answer your question....
you will want to get a throttle cable from a bike off ebay.... i recommend the universal one as is onger than most so you can trim it to size

also those bodies are for a silver top VTR and to get to 130bhp you would need to cam it aswell!!!
silvertop inlets are wank so you would gain a fair bit from them but personally i would fit a newman 280 or piper 285 cam to utilise the most you can from the bodies

as for stand alone choices..... with these i woud choose omex as KMS has shoddy wideband llambda and omex can be mapped just from the TPS (throttle positioning sensor). tbh though whereever you get it mapped i would go for what ever they reccommmend as they wil be used to the specific system diagnostics of the ECU they tell you

think it would be around 130 bhp maybe abit more if done correctly with manifold, decat, cams, throttle bodies and remap.
yeah there back on ebay now.
its the throttle cable that I need to know how to do before I bid. anyone help

sorry dint see the post from piggy 123 so asked same question again lol, thanks for the help every1

i don't see standalone as an exclusive cost to throttle bodies tbh as you need that no matter what kind of tuning you do.

Just a point to raise like!

this is the one on ebay and it says it has a chip with it (hopefully not some resistor chip from ebay), sent him a message asking but no reply yet

please dont bid as think im gonna lol
  10. #10
that looks like an eprom chip if thats what they're called like.
  11. #11
very true but going standalone for bodies is a must where as if camming is the end of your game then i think the OE ECU is suffice
  12. #12
Looks like he bought them ten days ago and either couldn't fit them or changed his mind

one last question, when fitted with cams and remapped correctly would the emmissions be ok for mot coz would be a right pain changing them and decat for mot.
  14. #14
I like how the picture that has been used is from a guy I know from around here and is a 1.6 not 1.4 as he stated and a different set completely.
  15. #15
what you mean from a guy you know, you sure he isnt selling them cause there on ebay.
anyone know if they affect the emissions
  16. #16
as in the picture of the blue car with the throttle bodies isn't anything to do with that auction or item. It's just a random picture of a car with throttle bodies.

And emissions, as in if you just put on the tb's would that effect emissions are you asking?
  17. #17
well my engine will have, piper 280 cams, piper 4-1 manifold, mk1 cat under car for mot, them throttle bodies and a remap.
  18. #18
with the cat on the car it should be fine as long as the mapping is good.
  19. #19
how much would these cost to get mapped, also would it be cheaper if i've already had it mapped for cams?
  20. #20
no idea, if it's standard ecu, would bank on £500 or more.

BUt from a financial point of view I would do all mapping at once, to keep costs down as much as possible. Although since yours is mk2 vtr not sure if they can even remap standard ecu. Never looked into remaping standard ecu, ever.

Althoguh mapping standalone is easier, but still good £500 plus like. Have a look at datashifts standalone they aint got one for a vtr but I'm sure one will be in the pipeline, good value in my opinion.
  21. #21
well i've already had it the standard remapped once for my cams, but them bodies looked quite cheap.

i wouldn't do it again unless it was gonna up the bhp to at least 140bhp.

    running 122bhp atm.
  22. #22
sorry mis read the question there, I wouldn't imagine that it would be cheaper but unsure of the remaping standard ecu process.

Also if you think you're going to get 18 more horses from bodies you'll be very dissappointed. Bodies are about mid range rather than peak power, think thats a good general way to put it.
  23. #23
I know they dont add loads of bhp and if I cant find anywhere to remap oe ecu ill get standalone, really need to know if it will pass mot with bodies on.
  24. #24
sorry missed a previous post its already been answered, thanks
