Banded Steelies

  1. #1
I was wandering if anyone had put banded steelies on there three stud saxo. As im not shore how wide to have them as i dont want them sticking out the arches.
  2. #2
flat arch no point mate, for the cost involved for the depth you could add its pointless, have you even priced them up?
  3. #3
no cus the price varies for the depth so i didnt know what to choose
  4. #4
    can anyone help??

if the steelies are on the car measure from the lep of the wheel outawards to where you want them to sit, i doubt you will need anymore than a 1 inch band

    thanks ally

and for the cost involved for the sake of a 1" band to about a 5x6" wide wheel its not worth it, you might aswell get some euro deep dish alloys for it that would be just as wide if not wider

How much does banding actually cost?

If it's alot it may be worth sourcing the bits to convert to 4 stud and whacking on some vtr wheels or something
  10. #10
what the guff are banded steelies?

  11. #11
The thing is if i get alloys or convert to 4 stud ile have to tell the insurance with the steelies i was gonna paint and maybe stretch the tyre a bit and if theres any problems i can stick the cover back on
  12. #12
That's a fair point although insurance surely wouldn't be affected if you just converted and say put on rallye steelies painted?

May be worth the call as i'm sure they can't up the cost for changing parts?

    there steelies

you take a steel wheel and cut the lip off it on a jig, then weld in a steel band to widen them..

obv that makes it sound simple but theres a lot of precise measurements etc needed or no amount of balancing will get them to run straioght

im on directline line tho. i 'cant' do any modifications till im 25 so converting would be classed was a modification i think.

So no 1 on the site has banded steelies then??

not that i know of on here

tbh banding i normally used to get like an 8 inch wide rim
a 1 inch you may aswell try to find some oldschool citroen (bx iirc a rare few came with 3 stud steels) they may be wider

I got a quote for some rallye steelies to be banded, they wanted £800 for all 4 including a lick of paint.

Of course i didnt get it done.

It's not really done on saxo's tbh. Check out edition38.com and have a search

on widewheels.com mate which is the only legal place to get it done thats actually works to regulations and use a tried and tested method to get some 5.5j or 6j rallye steelies banded out to 8j say....

it'll cost you around 320-400 quid.

paint them yourself or else you should expect to pay 800 really.

plus price of rallye rims, £160, then painted ect BUT would look SO SOO GOOD!!
