How Could I Paint My Wheels Like This...

  1. #1
    Hey guys,

Well im going to be refurbing my wheels soon, but im a little stuck on what to do!

They are 5 spokes, and down each spoke there is a line down them in a groove. (pic can be seen on my progress thread)

Now im going to be spraying them black, but these grooves i want them green.

Now i do have some bright green vinal which i can use, but painting them would be better.

but im unsure how to do it,

Should i spray them all black then tape off around the groove, re-primer and then spray green?

Or should i tape of the grooves spray black then remove the tape and spray them green....

OR should i spray the grooves green, then tape ovetr them and spray the rest black...

Im puzled as to how i would do this tbh

    Any help would be great

Spray green and then mask up. Will be easier to over spray the green and then cover it in black imo.

I thought that aswell as black spray will cover jsut about anything lol

Thing is the grooves are not quite as wide as masking tape, and obviosuly i want clean smooth edges etc, how could i get it all taped up properly??

Is it jst a case of cuting the tape and being very precise with it lol ?

Yep, paint the green bits first, tape them up (this is the most important bit, screw this up and you'll get a rubbish finish with lines that wont match up) then spray the black. Obviously wait for the green to fully dry, couple of days I'd say (you dont want the tape pulling the paint off). If the lines are thinner than the tape you can use a sharp knife to trim it (use a metal ruler or similar) carefully.

well basically the lines are 1.2cm's wide and 12.5cms long lol

Yea i think thats how i will do it, couple of days seems abit to much as masking tpe aitn really that sticky tbh...

Can allways test run this on somthing worthless lol

    Thanks for your help guys
