What is the most worthwhile performance mod??

  1. #1
I know that it is a broad subject. But I wanted to get an idea what you all think would be the most worthwhile performance modification on a saxo to spend money on. What I have mind is the mods for:
    1. Increasing MPH/power/acceleration.
    2. Handeling/Grip.

Throw some of your thoughts at me.

    handling.

A car thats slower on the corners needs a massive amount of power to make up that lost time on the straight.

A car that corners nearly as fast as it will travel in a straight line obviously doesn't need power to accellerate

id always say upgrade your brakes before power,

on this subject tho handling, look at the lotus elise vs a 500bhp mustang, may have power on the straight but cant corner for shit. elise = winner )

I agree but there is nothing that beats the feeling when you put your foot to floor and it feels like your insides are being pulled out of you back. And watching you spped needle move almost as fast as your rev needle. Driving a 1.1 i dont get to experience this but i look forwrd to the day that i do. I know its sad but its true.

yeh im thinking this is the list of mods wen i get me saxo

    1. lowering 40mm
    2. 266mm brake upgrade
    3. supersprint cat back
    4. Race land induction kit
    5. Raceland 4-2-1 mani

Even though 3,4 and 5 will go on together no dowt, thats for the beginning.

Probs give it a service first aswell

but saying that if you make the car lighter and improve the suspension braking is improved as well. Get good tyres and you should be in a situation that you only need to upgrade the brakes to bigger ones if heat buildup (and fade) is a problem. Partly this can be offset by choosing the right brake pad and disk... if it continues to be a problem then you need to upgrade

How much will that come to?

most bhp for you ££ is nitrous. you know it makes sense!
  15. #15
    Quaife ATB diff

Allows you to get the power down much earlier in a corner, and thus be a lot faster
  16. #16
Don't use Nitrous on the road, it's rubbish, expensive, and ultimately unsatisfying (all IMHO of course!)

First things first, safety. Your grip, brakes and handling MUST out-do the performance of your engine otherwise you'll find yourself in real trouble real fast.

So, it's wheels/tyres/brakes, followed by bushes, shocks, springs, then Enclosed cold air induction system, manifold, cat removal and full exhaust. After that it's Cams+ECU, and after that Throttle bodies.

    Hope that helps

    Kind regards
    Andy

Pretty much what i did.....accept first thing i did was fit better springs and billies

    throttle bodies? They are??? (n00b)

Ive done alot of mods and the only order is when i could afford it.

Looking back i think the most satisfying first purchases on a budget would be a full bush kit all round £150* , a full system exhaust + manifold £500*, a decent full suspension kit £600*.
