Which tyres for VTS

  1. #1
Hi all, I am thinking of replacing my front drivers side tyre as it needed repairing a few weeks ago so I might as well replace both the fronts at the same time. Need some recommendations for standard 195/45 R15 tyres, had a look on mytyres.co.uk but I'm none the wiser which are better or worse!

Looking for tyres which won't wear out too fast but have a decent grip of the road

    Eagle F1s are awesome

Do they not wear out a bit faster than usual? It's pretty much the only bad thing I have heard of those tyres! (if I am correct!)

eagle f1 have very good grip in all conditions.but have soft sidewalls so the shoulders wear out quick if you corner hard.even with a few extra psi.

Ah, I stand corrected, good to know! Seems like F1's are the main choice then

£62 each on mytyres.co.uk, is that going to be the best price to buy at, or any other stores to check out?

    Thanks for your help

i've got toyo proxes on mine, really rate 'em tbh!

yoko 539a or somethin, didnt really rate them that much till i terrorised the ring on them and was well impressed

I've got Yokohama A539s on my 16s and they are very very good in the dry. You'll die if you hit standing water with them though lol, and they are also good in the wet, but only if you get them warm. And getting tyres properly warm in the wet takes a bit of practice haha.

I've got Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31s on my 14s and they are also good, not quite as good as the Yokos but actually a lot better than I expected. Also available in VTS sizes seeing as it's 195/45-15 KU31s I've got on my Golf as well.

The Eagles are very good while they last, but any car I've had with them the shoulders are gone in a matter of weeks.

i rate Toyo proxes over eagle F1's just didnt have the confidence i had with the proxes, i always hear good things about yoko's so i think im goin yoko next

i had t1r proxes and they were good but i found i killed them rather quickly
a mate had some eagles and they were also very good

its all about the nankang ditch finders imo

Always had f1's and i think I always will, Good in dry and wet, dont wear overly fast and they protect your rims with that huge rim protector overhang, which looks pretty sweet too
