Cams for Westcoast?

  1. #1
Im looking into to getting cams for my westcoast, depends on cost really. Would I need cams that are non-roller or roller type? Its a 1.4 westcoast 1999 engine. And if I fitted cams would I need a re-map. Also whats cams fit the wescoasts engine?

    Thanks..

What about getting something like these cams and a 1.3 Rallye inlet manifold. Would there be much power gainned from that?

If your looking to get as much power as possible then the rallye head and inlet along with a good cam would be your best bet. You will easily see over 100bhp.

I used to run a piper 285 cam in my old westy along with a load of other breathing mods and a dastek and that was roughly 100bhp at the fly.

You can use this cam without a re-map but the idle will be quite lumpy.
If your going to do it save a little more £ and do it properly.

Wouldn't you be better off with a VTR engine? Looks the same as a Westcost lump, so insurance shouldnt know difference and cam that. Cant see point in camming your engine personally.
