new engine....

    hi, I'm going to buy a vtr engine off my mate and put it in my vtr.
    what would I need to take aswell as the engine to make it work?
    I have a mk1 and his is a mk2

    As far as I know, putting a 3 plug engine into a 1 plug car requires more work than putting a 1plug engine into a 1 plug car so I'd check what engine he's got.

    if your lucky he will have an early mk 2 as they were still 1 plug into the ecu (i think), if he has a three plug you'd be better sourcing yourself a 1 plug engine as it will a straight swap then

    if its 3 plug into a 1 plug car, you need to swap the whole interior loom, you need the box behind the dash for the imobilizer, the keys, the barrel around the ignition barrel, the engine...

    need to swap everything
