Sometimes the gearshift squeeks, like it needs oiling or something. Clutch makes a similar squeek when disengaging. Any ideas?
Squeeking gearchange and clutch

#2is it the clutch pedal squeeking or the clutch itself>
as sometimes my old saxo the pedal just creeked a tad. -
#3or if its when you actually move the gear stick (try without the engine on), then the gear linkages could have gone dry and need taking off and greasing.
-
#4My clutch seemed to squeek/squeel when it was on its way out.
-
#5Both squeeking - think the pedal is just squeeky but the gear shift sounds like it might need oiling. Is there a how to thread on taking this apart? Is a quickshift simple to fit?
-
#6apparently you need to get at it underneath, by removing the heat sheild? anyone else no?
-
#7The gearstick squeeking could be to do with the joint actually under the stick and the gator will find a link someone done of how to sort this.

#9Wicked mate, will give it a proper greasing!
On another note, I noticed the clutch squeeks when you pull away with pace and sometimes makes a rattle noticeable at low speeds. Is this fixable? -
#11ye mine does that, release bearings have gone and need replacing, seeing as u get the clutch out to do it, mayaswell change the whole clutch as it wouldve been worn. well thats wat im doin
-
#12is the gearstick very slack with a bit of play in? theres a rubber ball type thing on the lower linkage that wears, ends up making metal to metal,so it squeeks aswell. my release bearing was also squeeling before i replaced the clutch kit last week
-
#13Right, took it apart and greased it as the linked thread said. When I put it back together I did the 10mm up tight but not too tight. Should this be as tight as possible?
Anyway its much smoother now, goes into 1st and 2nd really nicely!
Rodzd126 sounds likely but at the mo the clutch doesn't appear to be slipping so I'll replace the lot when it does thanks.
Dar-Bar_Vtr yes there's a slight movement in the stick, is the lower linkage accessed from outside the car?
