Is a Raceland really worth the effort?

    Before some of you go 'its been covered before' shut up and listen lol

    im considering a raceland induction kit but after using the search button endlessly all i have come across is that they can be awkward to fit and lets face it the build quality isnt great, so are they really worth the money when compared to such rivals as:

    K&N Gen II
    BMC Enclosed
    Pipercross Viper

    what do you think?

    been covered before

    hassle- buy a raceland. or similar buy a green. gen 2, viper are not worth it. bmc would be fine

    i wouldnt ever use a viper imo.

    yes but why? this is what i mean you halfwit, why would you not buy a viper or gen 2 what is so much better about a bmc? popular opinion or is there actually a reason?

    why wouldn't you use a viper? im good with cars and used to be a mechanic but all these kits are very similar so what are the pro's and cons of the individual kits?

    viper has alot of metal in the design of the seat for the filter, which isnt exactly good for heatsoak.

    hmmm i want something a bit different are there any others anyone can recommend that is not a bmc or raceland/simota

    procomp- now streamline, about £300 though + iirc.

    I used to have one on my vtr, but imo for the money a green enclosed is perfectly suitable. just fit them with foam to the slam pannels and cable ties, or with a flexi hose like the 16v airbox has as standard so theres room for engine rocking.

    I cant remember the name of it, its like IGM RAM AIR or something, but its a fully carbon fibre enclosed kit for saxos, carbon from where it attaches to the TB all the way to a scoop at the slam. Looks very different to the raceland/green scoops too. But its like 300 quid

    Thats the one. Looked at it before, but it looks so well built it wouldnt look right in the engine bay of a saxo lol

    an example of what an old procomp looked like etc..


    with that and my BTB it sounded fucking evil....

    if you had half a brain youd realise a induction kit does fuck all anyway. just stick a panel filter in. save your money you spanner

    to be honest mate im going to bodie it anyway i was just putting an iduction kit in untill i can afford to bodie and cam it at the same time because i only have the money for one at the moment

    yes a raceland is worth the effort, they are for sale brand new on here for £41 and tbf you will not get better for the price, i fitted my last week and it was easy, drilled 2 holes in the bottom off the scoop for tie wraps tie wrapped it to the slam pannel and it fits perfectly, doesnt shake or look daft and it took me about a hour to fit tbh.

    It gives a nice throaty roar under harsh acceleration and i would definatly recomend it to anybody tbh.

    i have had the origional green cotton enclosed kit, which im guessing the raceland and ecosse ones are based on.
    it was an awesome bit of kit and i loved it.
    fit was spot on and quality was cool, i have had it on both of my cars, but i ended up smashing it in a rage once, lol long story.

    the raceland kit seems to do the same job, alot of peeps tend to fit a green cotton filter to the induction kit in place of the raceland filter.

    on my vts, i found the best setup was a pipercross panel filter in the standard airbox, remove all the shitty pipework and have a direct cold air feed pipe coming from under the bumper.
    its a OEM box and does a good job of keeping the heat at bay, i guess they spent alot of cash developing a air intake system, so its good for something and still retains the standard under bonnet look, just with out the mega loud induction roar

    i figue a few quid saved on the induction setup with a cheap perfectly good uprated panel filter, will allow me to spend a wee bit extra on other areas

    i wanted a carbon induction kit like the procomp, but spent the money on big bigger brake setup (283mm)

    BMC Enclosed - i have one, imo the cheaper carbon ones are just as good.
    Viper - wouldnt waste my time.

    as mentioned, ive got the green panel filter in the standard box, with all the plastic shit removed, cold air feed fitted down to the foglight. jobs a good un.

    wouldn't really bother with a raceland, i purchased one for mine and regretted it. anyone who has ever looked at it has said what cheap crap it looks. if i was buying another induction kit, it would be the bmc.

    its all about price vs performance.

    The raceland - yes its cheap and not the greatest kit out there but when you spend £300 on another induction do you get twice as much extra performance. I say not.

    I fitted a raceland the other week, was a bit of a hassle, drilling holes/making brackets to fit to the slam panel etc. But it looks ok tbh, i cant say if ive noticed a noticable difference in performance, but differently sounds better.

    the raceland with the green sounds absoloutly mean. Awesome rhyme i did there. Not really too much hassle to fit me an ryan got mine done in about an hour.
