the rubber bush at the end of the linkage is prob worn or else the linkage is bent quite common on saxos have a look at these first.

ok mate will do, cuz it started to grind when going in sometimes then lust lost the gear, is it an easy fix if it is the rubber or the linkage?

it'll just need a new linkage piece of piss, and no quickshift wont help it uses the same linkages.

afaik its the top linkage biggest one for second gear maybe wrong. there is three

ill just replace all 3, might aswell cuz the gear stick feels like a dick in a bucket lol cheers for ya help Eoey ill let ya no if it works

it could be the linkages or the rubber ball, both of which are an easy fix, but if not it could be the syncro on 2nd, it depends when it does it, if you accelrate, then lift off and it jumps out its likely to be the syncro.

it does it as soon as it goes into gear it just pops straight back out
  9. #9
as above id first check linkages for wear, if there alrite it will most likely be the synchro for second in the box

is that bad if it is the syncro?
  11. #11
pretty bad yeah, it means you will need your gearbox reconditioning, or at least stripping and a new 2nd gear syncro, so a couple of hundred to get fixed

the only trouble with replacing the box is you dont know the history of it, and the same thing could just happen again, the xsi box would be good for acceleration, but the revs will be higher on the motorway, so if you do alot of motorway driving, id just stick a vtr or vts box in.

i do motorway and a-roads mainly, is ther any difference between the vtr and the vts box? better acceleration would be good lol

the vtr and vts gear clusters are the same, but the vtr box has 61 teeth on the diff and vts has 63, thats the only difference, i would say its not noticable on a road car but may be wrong.
