Filter change

   hi, I've recently put a pipercross viper enclosed on my vtr and before I had a pipercross open on it but now when I go to about 5000 rpm and change gear it will stay at that rpm for a few seconds and then go back down, but it didn't do this when I had my old filter on.
   anybody no y it is doing this?

   does the actual car stay at 5000rpm or just the clock???
