vtr gearbox oil plugs where?

  1. #1
after pulling passenger driveshaft out a little when changing strut the gearbox has lost sum oil.
had a quick look but it was dark and i couldnt see the oil drain plug or the plug to refill the gearbox.....any one any pics?or a diagram?
is it a normal plug?or a special tool needed?

the drain and fill plugs are close to each other on the nearside end of the gearbox, you need to uno them with a square tool thing, and to put the oil in, it is easier to use a oil suction pump, but 1.2 liter bottles will just about do it (its close to the plasic inner arch.)

ok so its between gearbox and passenger wheel arch liner?

and do you need a special tool?or will socket or trx bit hex etc get it?

and ive got a suction gun anyway

ps whats the name of the tool?and any recomended places to buy?

yeah its there, and a socket or torx bit wil not do it as its a round bolt thing with a square machined into it (sorry for the vague explaination) and the tool is called a sump plug tool? not sure, but most (if not all) cars that have a square fitting on the plugs, it is the same size, so a parts place should know what you mean.

usually these plugs are the size of the drive on a ratchet, more than likely 1/4" or 3/8"

i tried that but they are not, they are slightly smaller then 3/8 and bigger then 1/4, you can grind down a 3/8 one to fit.
