Help with removing gmc mani for standard

  1. #1
    Hi all,

I've got a 51 mk2 vtr, which has the cat in the manifold. Although i've currently got a gmc branch mani..... So for the mot I will need to fit a standard mani and cat, but its got one of those oil filter adaptor kits, so i'm not sure if the standard one will fit with this?

    Can someone help me?

    Hope this makes sense

Cant you do what your mate is going to, Get a cat for under the car?
Then just have a decat pipe.

Easiest way - instead of having to swap the manifold over, would be to find someone selling a standard Mk1 exhaust, which has the CAT under the car, just after the manifold. A lot easier changing the exhaust over than the manifold.

Fairly certain the standard manifold (with CAT in it) won't fit with the filter in the front of the block - think the CAT hits it. So you'd need to change back to the old oil setup (along with oil change) - then back again afterwards.

Deffo easier sourcing a Mk1 exhaust, then swapping exhausts each MOT.

Easier still - find a friendly MOT station, if theres any still about

Yeah that is an idea, but I will need to buy or borrow at cat and also a different centre section.
