Powdercoating exhaust tail-pipe?

    Ive seen a few exhausts powdercoated in mag features, just wondered if anyone has tried it on here?

    I'd like to do mine in black?!

    I used to do it on Need For Speed underground My choice was also black

    i want mine doing, emailed a place from works email, but im on leave argh!

    but i want mine doing black i think saxo180 has had his done

    as said im sure saxo180 has, and there is a nana gti kicking bout with a black btb, i cant remember but it may either be raj or sybez

    Yeah, i also know a few companies but just wanted to know if there are
    drawbacks, like paint bubbling with the heat etc?

    im sure its called ceramic coating for the exhaust, not sure how much the powder coat can withstand heat wise

    Oh yeah forgot about that, company called zirotec if i remember rightly, they only do white i think, but they are working on more colours, its more for manifolds/downpipes i think but they could do tail pipes aswell i'd imagine!!

    i know they ceramic coat manifolds as they get red hot, but i dont think exhausts get as hot as that. powder coating should with stand very high temps remember its baked on so it can take some high temps, i doubt whether an exhaust will get hot enough to cause any problems, plus the places ive emailed, from the replies that ive seen, they have all quoted me prices and not said that they wouldnt. some of the places even advertised it

    different places are going to quote different prices, i emailed a place that do gates and all things like that, and didnt advertise exhausts, and was quoted 200 plus vat lol, not a chance id pay that, i think saxo180 paid 80 for his, i need to check works email to see what other places have quoted

    Powder coating is baked around 200*C and the only thing that causes problems usually is aluminium as it gives off gasses at high temp that crack the paint.

    knew it could stand the heat, didnt know about ali tho, but i cant imagine theres many ali exhausts

    saying that im getting my brakes powdercoated and tbh they probablies heat up more than an exhaust tip

    one of my mates painted his exhaust, well his backbox anyway, in gumnetal. he had the car about 2 years, he never had any problems. didnt flake or anything. so im pretty sure powder coating would be ok.

    I'm having the exhaust on the VTR powder coated (when I get it back off Cloud ) but I'm not having the tail pipe section that shows done - I'm just going to polish that.

    I've spoken to the powder coating place and they've said that even a high performance exhaust will be fine powder coated.

    Didn't ask about manifold tbh. I would imagine that ceramics would be the only way to coat a mani.
