Weird Clutch problem

  1. #1
i bought a mk 2 vtr bout a month ago, after a few days a noticed when i change
down gear sometimes, like going from 4th to 2nd it would'nt go into second no matter how hard i pushed then i would attempt to put it into first 1st and it would go in really smooth but normally when it goes into first its abit ropey, and i would lift my clutch up and it would just rev like in neutral. sometimes it would take 4/5 attempts on pumping the clutch and putting it in and out of the gear till it goes into the gear properly. alot i have to set off off in 3rd:/ nt gud for my clutch and ideas?!!? its a intermittent fault only sometimes does it like 2 times in a 30minute drive.

hmm, possibly change gearbox oil, and check the gear linkages and bushes for play?

First thing is stop the text talk.

    Then-

Check the level of the gearbox oil and top up
Check the gearbox mounts as they may be worn
    Change the gear linkages
    Change the Clutch
    Change the Gearbox

Sounds like a problem with you linkages. You can buy a second hand box from anything above £100 and a recon costs a bit more. But depends where you go.
