Need to change Mileage -DONE

  1. #1
Bought a new instrument panel yesterday as all the needles where out said i was doing 50mph and my mate in his Mk5 Golf was sat next to me doing 80mph on his clocks.

How do I change the mileage back as the new ones have 92k and mine have 80k Its not the digital clocks as i know they need to be changed proffessionaly ?
  2. #2
im sure thats like ilegal but i think if you take it to a citroen dealer along with your old clocks, it can be done

you spin the milage cable backwards with a drill of some sort as for calibrating them to right speed im not sure maby you could adjust it with your fingers then when you slow back down to 0 it will be set like when you zero scales and that

    lol joking mate.

Why don't you do what they did on that film with the ferrari.

put it on axle stands and put it in reverse to reverse the mileage lol

the milage can be done, not sure how but plenty of people do it when there selling cars (bastards) however im not sure on your speedo settings, i asked this question at college to do with the wheels and i couldnt get any soultuion to changing it. i think that the wheel speed sensors have to be adapted with bigger/smaller rotars (not 100% sure tho). newer cars it can be changed electronically.

had just over 80k on my car and new clocks had 97k so changed the new clocks to the mileage that old clocks had - was not doing this to remove mileage to sell for more just did it so actual instrument panel works - how do i remove airbag light ?
  23. #23
    jammed the dials backwards?
  24. #24
no took the bar with cogs off and pushed the numbers forward to the correct mileage then put the cogs down if that makes sense

u can hide it by takin the bulb out or covering the icon with insulation tape, doesnt solve the problem tho
  27. #27
Yeah Ferris Bueller style... its gotta work!

    Check the airbag pretensioner plugs.

lol never changed a car mileage but did an old honda scooter of mine when i replaced the engine, was cable driven, did the 'matilda' trick with the cable in a cordless drill shame cars arent so easy as i want some better dials for mine but cba sorting the mileage out to get it correct
