so im choosing to have minutes of being a fool

what do throttle bodies do? why are they so good?

basically a throttle body for each inlet

standard we only have 1, so one for each = more air, more fuel and more power

apart from them there are a lot of other things you have to do before, you cant just whack them on and expect it to run, you will need standalone ecu, cams, remapped few more things too bt you get the idea, for a 16 valver expect power gains of 160 - 190 bhp, a bit more if you spend money on the right parts

    have a search

Alright Don..Calm down..Good way to make people welcome..Not everybody has knowledge on this sort of thing..

Back to the point, what Pred said..Allows more air into the engine so wilder cams which require more air can be used..All that equals more power obviously..

ah reet, so rather than having 1 carb and injector you have a carb and injector on each cylinder?

and thanks Don, i did say i didnt know and that i'd rather be a fool and find out.. ah well

Fuel injection engines will have an injector per cylinder anyway. It's just the one throttle body allowing the air in intially though.

Probably the biggest benifit of the individual throttle bodies set up, is the tuning available per cylinder. To gain more power with a natrual aspirated engine, you'll need to change the camshafts for ones which open the valves up for longer duration and also a greater distance. (lift) The problem you then encounter is that the car will not idle, mainly due to the inlet and exhaust valves both being open at the same time for too long of a duration. This is where the individual throttle bodies come in, as they allow tuning of the airflow per cylinder, and in turn an idle can be achieved. Obviously the total amount of air which can go into the cylinders is greater because of the bigger size in total inlet capacity too...

they are what open and close the valve, well they are what effect the duration of what they are open for. valve springs etc... are involved

I know it becomes tedious explaining things to people who dont know much about cars, but surely it takes more effort to be sarcastic

thank fuck its not jsut me then.

i know i may come across a little strong form time to time, but i do have very valid input in the right threads.

Ive been on forums for a while now myself, I know where your coming from. But when I first started I found that sometimes someone explaining the exact things I wanted to know was a lot better. (might not be the case this time but you get what I mean)

sometimes websites explain things too complicated...
  16. #16
they do but a si ple google of "whats a camshaft" will throw up a few esay to comprehend results.

i know that wasn't the original post, and not digging at the guy asking that, its ok to ask in a thread.

Cant believe the amount a cunts that answer with stupid posts.
If the question asked has annoyed you because some people want to learn then fuck off.
So what if someone wants to ask a common or "tedious" question.
    Just dont reply.

    Agreed

Dont normally bother getting into confrontation on a forum but its a fucking joke seen 3 threads tonight all with dickheads moaning that its already been answered ect.

it takes 2 seconds normally to answer the question if you care not to answer then dont, go away. Dont have a go at people over it.

not being funny but I didn't really understand how throttle bodies helped gain extra hp's and I'm great.

so people getting arsy... put a fucking sock in it.

    thanks.

    i didnt know this lol

    cheers dudes

Come on chaps, mind the language. It makes the site appear childish and chavy.
  24. #24
A forum is to ask questions and have them answered..Its upto the mods to ask people to search and close threads etc..

If somebody asks a question and you dont want to answer it or you are sick of seeing the same thing then ignore it..Let helpful people give the answers if they want..

Its people with Don's attitude that got SSC in the shit with no members..

+1 i also wanted to know the answer, thanks for making the thread!

I agree. Thats what this section of the forum is for, asking questions about engine tuning etc and discussing it. Otherwise it would just be an internet page with information that no one can comment on.

Some people just dont want to be helpful it seems.
