News : B&M Quikshift

  1. #1
I bought one a few weeks ago and only just fitted it. If anyone is thinking about buying on and not sure what to do. BUY ONE! I love it and feels so good to drive. I had a chopped down stick before but it was nothing compard to a B&M!

    Hope this helps you decide!
  2. #2

  6. #6
Whats so different about it, if you don't mind me asking
  7. #7
its just doesnt feel sloppy anymore... you no if yu hold your gearstick and wobble there is normaly a lot of play, well there is nothing, feels a lot smother on gearchange and just a great, simple upgrade
  8. #8
Hmm, how much are these? Is it much work to fit etc?
  9. #9
iirc there around £100 give or tae a few pounds. i got mine cheaper off a lad on here that never fitted it. yeah there easy to fit. have to get underneath the car aswell so obviously getting it as high as possible is easier
  10. #10
any pics? whats difference between this and a quickshift?
and where can you get them from?
  11. #11
no pics yet mate but i could get some. well this is a quickshift but there is so many different brands and this one came up. for some reason B&M call it a quikshift lol. you might be able to get hold of them off kam, if not try searching ebay or just google it mate
  12. #12

It comes with the knob, you just use your original gaiter surround.

the b&m is a quickshift its just a different type to what you may have seen
the b&m replaces the origonal stick ans is slightly shorter above the pivot and longer under the car (the compbrakes work on a similar principal but replace the pivot with an adjustable one)
likage attatchments just lenghten one of the under car linkages to reduce the throw

similar kind of feel really mate
some say its a little more positive but i cant see how tbh (but ive not drive a car with a linkage attatchment type)
  20. #20
Does the kit simply replace the top bit accessible from inside the car? The stick and link to the gearbox rod?
  21. #21
    it replaces the stick
you pop the old stick out and drop this in

if your skillful you can do it all from inside but it requires very nimble fingers lol

ive been looking at these for ages but i didnt think you could use you gear gaitor again

or is that with the compbrake?
  24. #24
i not sure mate cause i took the centre bit out and left it out lol... i would of thought you could use the gaitor again as its not structurly different to a standard one!
  25. #25
does it really make a differnece? if you gto a standard saxo and ne with a quicksift would it make that much of a difference?

you can use the gator with the B&M, as this only replaces the stick and pivot ball. The comp brake one replaces the whole plastic area as well and to keep the gator need to make a bracket to hold the plastics around it.

Shortens the throw of the stick, so doesn't really matter how tuned your car is, just helps change gear a it quicker.

I have had B&M and comp brake quick shifts numerous times, and in my opinion it makes it feel nicer to drive but thats it tbh

And so the question is, B&M or Comp Brake?
  28. #28
B&M, short enough throw and easier to fit, and the B&M doesn't have shitty grub screws like the comp brake. Although it's more expensive but not much really.
  29. #29
    Thanks dude, roll on Xmas!
  30. #30
there are cheap ones on ebay as well. Tbh I can't see any difference between them and the B&M except price and the name on it, well except the shape of the gear knob like.
  31. #31
is the VTR and VTS B&M shifter the same?
  32. #32
yeah mate should be the same
    1 user thanked this post:

  39. #39
ive got a ge quickshift is there alot of difference between the b and m and the ge one
  40. #40
From what I remember when we looked at re-stocking these when they came back, the new distributor only gave something like 10% discount to trade. Motorsportworld may do a little off but it wont be a lot....
We thought they were too expensive so stayed with the compbrake as these are better value
  41. #41
is there any better one or are they all the same, and a link to where you got it from?
  42. #42
    http://www.rtecshop.com/index.php?p=...roduct_id=2502

around £110 delivered. cheapest ive found
  43. #43
so these are worth 124 quid then? as im about to order one but dont want to waste my money. cheers
  44. #44
that pic looks different to the one i found.

    http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/fra...ick-shifts.htm

if you look here the one in the pic doesnt even fall under c?

    http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/fra...ick-shifts.htm
  45. #45
    doesnt fall under c?
  46. #46
if you look on the secound link it gives you 2 pictures and then for e.g. a-L then the secound pic is for cars from L-Z. and the pic of the one in the other link isnt the same pic as on msw under the c catagory.
  47. #47
Where did you buy it from dude? The price seems high for the saxo and lower for other cars!
  48. #48
probobly because this post has been made and they know where all going to buy one haha.
  49. #49
    lol stranger things have happened!
  50. #50
so what i want to know is are these worth 125 quid, i do have to move my gear stick alot to get it into gear as to all of us and its a little dificult to get it into 2nd form 1st, will this solve is and how much does it reduce the movment to? half?

if your finding it difficult to change gear maybe your gearbox ain't right like sycro mesh worn or something if this is the case then a quick shift wont solve this and properly make it worse. so you my need to fix problem first, if you have a problem with your gearbox dos it crunch or grind sometimes when you change gear, because you shouldn't have difficulty changing gear especially 1st to 2nd. if your gear box is OK then the b&m should be fine with a lot quicker gear changes.
  52. #52
whats better the b&m one http://www.griffiths-engineering.co.uk/ or the one on kam racing?
  53. #53
I just fitted a comp brake one from kam today and i love it.
Easy to fit once you have removed the plastic ball of the original shifter
And you can use the standard gaiter just have to find a way to secure the plastic surround as its normally screwed into the standard shifter block thing

  55. #55
Has any one used both the b&m/compbrake method, and the GE method on a car to compare?
