never seen it done before, but sure it could be. Would mean loosing the heater controls though as I think above the head unit slot it's a heater so would assume the heater matrix is above.

Wouldn't think it would be worth the hassle really.

Also writing wb won't make anyone reply, never understood why people write that.

whats the point of it. i thought it was a bad thing the new cars had a 'double din' cos u would never get an aftermarket player which is double

if i was to go about doing this to my center heater vent , anywhere i can buy piece plastic that automaticly cut to fit in or the easiest way to go about make a double din fit, how to go about it?

    Seen some modified ones.

You would have to make a wood frame the exact size(then when you buy the double din unit it will come with a cage that will have to fit in.

Then take out the top heater bit then fiberglass and filler in your wood frame, also you would have to block the heater other wise the unit will get very hot!

    just go single din

Its a lot of hassle, youd be better off replacing the centre console itself than trying to modify the current one. Normally people use double din for tv/dvds etc, but you can get 7" screens in single din that pop out or up to about 4.3" touchscreens on removable fronts. (which is what Ive done)
Due to the fact that the single din slot in a saxo slopes down if you have a head unit with a large face it fits well as it comes outwards over the top of the heater controls without interference.
If you do decide to go ahead with a double din, youll need a lot of time and money, so let us know and post pics, itll be interesting to see!

I've just bought a single din for mine and I'm really pleased with it. I'd get annoyed having a screen there all the time so I like having the choice of whether it's out or not.

i was looking at this a while ago and it would be pretty easy tbh only problem i found is you would have to put the hazard ect switches some where else and use alot of fiber glass to hold the weight

could be done but are you willing to lose heating lol if you are wanting a screen you could put a 7" one on the the big pullout vent but other than that really dont see the point of a double din although some do look nice just seems too much hassle

it could be done but the curve on the dash would be a problem, if you are looking for a screen to go where the air vents are just get one like this made and get a dvd head unit.
