   hi, please can someone help?
   i have a saxo vtr 2001 plate, sometimes when i start my car the revs go up to like 30,000! and sometimes back down without me touching the accelerator
   
   also i was driving the other day at about 30mph and suddenly my lights went out followed by the dial lights etc and engine stopped and then my car came to a gradual stop and everything stopped working? i messed about with battery leads and then it was ok? whats that all about
   
   last week my car was strange in that i had to drive to work in 2nd gear cos there was just no power and the car sounded like a 50cc moped? can anyone one help with ant of the above thanks for reading this.

   Its probably some sort of sensor mate. May some of the more techincal guys on here may be able to help you

   Sounds similar to a problem i had which turned out to be the coolant sensor

   i dont have a clue, mine was fixed under warrenty.

   Most definately a sensor of some sort but most likely ECU as revs are controlled by one sensor, the loss of lights sounds like an alernetor problem and the loss of power is normally an exhaust issue. So unless you were really unlucky with 3 independent issues the ECU is screwed.

   could be a dodgy earth cable on the battery m8, mine did that and thats wat it was.
   check the cable on the battery

   i agree with last post sounds like a poor earth somwhere. check the earth strap on your gearbox

    sorry for not replying to people trying to help me! the car was serviced privately in march accoarding to the girl i got it off. i will look at earth cable thanks a million to all who helped me
