Throttle Body

Really intrested in throttle bodys atm. Was wondering if a Vts/VTR T/B is different to my 1.1.

What advantages would i gain from a VT T/B and would i notice any power difference. I know it makes the acceleration more responsive.

    Cheers

well the VT saxos have more BHP so you will end up with more bhp anyway, and anywhere up to 180bhp is possible mate. poobably more around 160bhp normally.

oops sorry i thought u meant something else. no, thers no realy gain from swappping a VT throttle body wiht a 1.1 or anything like that.

vts one wouldnt fit and vtr one would prob bog your car down at lowwer revs wouldnt bother

So much quicker acceleration? I herd more responsive pedals and better ideling?

Reason i asked is coz someone is modifying them on here.

He also said it would change gear ratios but can't see how.

    i lol'd at that mate

yes someone is gasflowing them on hear atm it will just let more air in to your engine but your car wont be set up for it so will prob fuck your fueling abit as for your gear ratio's who evey told you that should be shot

what does gas flowing a throttle body do? and polishing? i dont get it.

lets the air move more freely by removing manufacturing marks and imperfections would n ot make much noticeable difference unless your engine is tunned to the tits

sounds stupid, how much is it to get done? it would be worth it for like £30.

depends where you go i suppose and look in the forsale section someone is doing it on there

hes polishing them, if he was gas flowing them he would be using a flow bench to measure the flow rates of the throttle body to get them perfect. better off fitting a larger throttle body imo.

or just buy a set of bodies and do it properly lol

av had a look at the fella doing them, £26, will i actually see any gains? what are your opinions? worth it?
  14. #14
i done mine years ago and dont really see how it can give you much gain unless the size of the butterfly is being increased, otherwise its still going to be the same diameter. i didnt notice any difference, would only be 1 or 2hp at most if you did, which i doubt.

i dont buy into the whole pollished std TB idea, without a flow bench there is no way to tell that it has any benefits, it might even make it worse, it might make 2hp more at 6000rpm but may loose 4hp from 2-5k.

how do you alter the fuelling to suit the airflow increase? sorry for the thread hijack but I've been thinking about getting my throttlebody gasflowed

yeah I've heard it would help in the higher rev band but the lower power band might consequently suffer due to the velocity of the airflow being slower at lower engine speed because of the wider space

unless you have a remap you cant.

jsut another reason why its pointless, cit/pug designed the TB, then they matched the fuel and timing to run at its best.

getting a dremmel and boring it out a few mill isnt the wisest of moves me thinks
