Catalytic Converter?

   Don't know much about cars and don't actually know if its the cat in the exhause but was driving along today came to a stop. Went to pull away and the car was just shuddering really bad, the exhaust was making a bad popping noise and under the car was too. I think its where the manifold joins to the centre pipe is a little box type thing, this was just glowing orange when i started the car up and revved it a little. My cars a 00 vtr so i think the cat is in the exhaust not the manifold? Anyone know is this is the catalytic converter? Cheers!

   Also ive just had an mot so would i be better off replacing the centre pipe and the back box with a de-cat system? cheers guys!

   2000 vtr is cat under car.
   
   If its glowing red theres a restriction somewhere id imagine, prob best to get the car checked over PRONTO

   Yes the cat is the first box after your manifold the latter two are silencers. You will get an increase in power with a decat (straight through system) and an increase in noise, but you will need to have a cat tto pass next years MOT emission test, but I guess youve got 12 months to get one!

   it has power, i can drive it but it pops really loud, then after driving around a car park for about 2 minutes and i look under the car the box is glowing orange :/
   
   will it solve my problem by buying this?
