cars been off the road the last couple of weeks. so went to get her out the lockup today and the car wouldnt unlock. i used the key then when to start her up.i had dash lights when ignition was on but not enuth power to start.tried to jump start but no joy.phoned a mechanic mate and he said i may have either fooked the imobiliser so it wont reconise the card. or i may have fried the ecu. so just wondering if i get an ecu from another car will everything have to be reset at shitroen costing a bomb.

Sounds like a good excuse to get a new re-mapped ECU if you ask me!
  3. #3
tis only a 1.1 no point

Seriously though, if it is that dead, allow the battery to recharge for an hour or so from something before you try to start it again. Otherwise you can have problems.
  5. #5
not sure whats wrong with it my mates gona look at it tomorow
  6. #6
sounds like the battery is fuuked matey!
  7. #7
I had the same problem last year, there was no water in my battery.

just charge ya battery over night. Wouldnt bother forking out at citroen for all that when u havnt even charged it up?
  9. #9
i also hd the problem, no water in battery.
  10. #10
dude if it is the battery just get some heavy duty jump leads and get someone to give ya a jump start with there car that should fire it up if its the battery if not maybe something else

yes water in batteries when it mixis with the acid there is a cheical reaction that makes electrical curant.

also give the battery a long charge the battery was probly very flat how long has the car been sitting there?? if its not more than 2 weeks i would consider getting a new battery
  13. #13
how do ya tell if it needs water. got the guy coming out that fitted the alarm cause there is enuth power to light the dash lights and the stereo to come on but the alarm key fob wont open the door so it may just be the immobiliser stoping the car from starting
  14. #14
wouldnt bother calling a mechanic yet, charge the battery/replace, if it still dont work, then get a mechanic, the key fob not opening the doors does not mean the ecu is nackerd, just there is not enough power in the battery to work the solenoids.
  15. #15
As VTRcraig said, the battery probably hasnt enough power to activate the solenoids to unlock the car.

Get a multimeter on the battery and see what voltage its got.

And also i think that when you use jump leads you have to put the negative lead on to an earth position, not the neg saide of the battery as that can i believe harm the ecu.

Let us no how you get on, hope its not serious.

IF you do require a new ecu then heres somewhere to try for an uncoded ecu

    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/guyrogers69

Check your battery as said first tho as new ecu isnt pennies.

yeah thats what my mechanic mate said as i didnt realise bout not earthing to the batt. will see what the alarm guy says if not may just get an upgraded bosh batt or summit

I think that it is not that, an attempt by the new battery, but the first Reset the ecu and then try again

problem solved a mate phoned me about an hour ago asking for a jump so went up with the leads i had been using on the sax. when we were conecting the neg clamp it sprung out into a million bits so just connected the wire to it and it worked.so ive just been down to the sax and tried it with that and he presto it started but still no responce from the key fob. i no have the car up at the house running fine and charged just need the alarm guy to look at the locks.

glad to hear you got it sorted and the problem wasnt anything too serious
  21. #21
the battery in your key fob could have gone flat making the key fob not work, does the central locking work as normal?
  22. #22
the car makes beebing noises and the lights flash but the solidoids dont oped the lock
