would exactly happen if i de-catted my 1.1i sx saxo? i wana improve the power of my lil beast, n i can get the cat removed for £20 n a pipe welded instead?
de-catting

#2like everyone says, there's no point in improving power to the 1.1s because you wont get much.
if you must, de-cat pipe depends on lambda-sensors. if you have 1, you can replace the cat with a pipe, but if you have 2 (one before and one after cat), then you'll have to get a de-cat pipe with a socket for 2nd lambda-sensor, and i didnt find any
best thing is to get a 1.4 engine and drop it in -
#3also if you fit a de cat ur car wont pass its MOT unless u put the cat back, you could get a racing cat and then u would have to change it, but there aint really much point in swapping from the original to be honest
-
#4it only makes the car sound more aggresive
-
#5as these guys have said there isnt too much point spending alot of money trying to increase the power of a 1.1.
de-catting it would make a small amount of difference and would make the exhaust louder. if its a mk1 saxo then a de-cat will only be £50 ish but if its a mk2 you'd need a new manifold as the cat will be in the manifold.
-
#6you could take your old cat and knock the shit out of the middle of it with a pipe and hammer, i did this with my escort and it still passed its mot and no one knew it didnt have the element knocked out of it. cheap and simple
-
#7i eint bothered bout power, i got a vtec civic comming soon, for now tho i jus wana try differnt things on my lil saxo. i'll go get my cat cut off den sumtime dis week after my MOT
-
#8woooo hang on mate, you shouldnt need to cut it!
just take the bolts out and fit a de-cat pipe in its place
-
#9ye how much is the de-cat pipe then?
-
#10Magnex do one for £50Quote:Originally Posted by hmuminovicye how much is the de-cat pipe then?

#11drop a vts lump in instead of messin with a low powered engine
-
#12like i said im gettin a vtec civic so dats even beta den a vts
but my saxo is my lil round around 4 work.
-
#13take the cat off and knock the insides out, will still pass its emissions for mot time
my escort passed with no inards in the cat and it had loads of engine mods done to it
cheap and easy de-cat pipe
