I think something is wrong

My car has started to stink of petrol out of the exhaust and the engine has got a tappy sound asthough the tappets are lose. As i am still learning to drive i only do about 6 miles a day,do you think it might be this and it needs a good run to clear it out?

My dad has sugested some things we can try

1.clean my pipercross filter.
2.maybe a valve.
3.the tappets need doing up.

its a 2002 vtr by the way if this is any help.

mine sounds tappy sometimes its prob the injectors as they are really tappy
just try giving it a good run if you can

ye mine sounds tappy alot aswell, but my car does alot of miles a day and is sued every day? how can i tighten tappets or is der another way of sorting them out?

try changing the oil and spark plugs as my vts engine was doing that about a month ago, and i changed the oil, oil filter and spark plugs and it was fine.

i wouldnt have thought it was the piper x.

same here,minre really tappy so changed oil and now its fine

im doin a full service dis weekend, so if i sort it i'll let ya know, hopefully new oil shud sort it out
