motorbike 4 pots

Just thinking if it would work, make some spacers to widen caliper to fit vented disc etc,any reason why not???
  2. #2
the spacers may reduce the strength in the calipers
plus they will be designed for a bigger diameter discs

brakes designed to stop a 100-200kg bike on a 900kg car.

    yep good idea...

Some two part callipers and you make up spacers to achieve the desired clearance. Though it does put a lot of load on the bolt holding the lot together so you do not want to go over the manufacturers spec max. It is not uncommon to see motorbike brakes on small race cars though more often than not there on the rear. Really the Saxo is a bit big to consider putting any bike brakes on the front. But if it was a out and out race car there is no reason you could not use them on the rear. You could not do it on a road car however as you still have to have a cable hand brake to pass a MOT.

    mildly lol!

I didnt want to post anything offensive but needed to really wonder why you would want to justify it, especually when you can pick up designed 4pots for good money.

I wouldnt ever take a chance on a braking system for sure.

why dont you fit the discs while your at it ? maybe change your steerin wheel for some bars ? and take 2 wheels off ?

did some of you read my post before answering or wot?The work thinking was there i'm sure, anyway will know for next time, thanks guys

    I did read it.

But the pistons on the bike caliper are very small and not designed to be exerting the pressure to stop a bike not a car. So even with spacers you have not increased the braking strength of the caliper itself

we're looking at using kart brakes on the back of our 205! Very lightweight disks and calipers.

Could be made to work on the front but I think the disk size may cripple you. two thin and it will heat up potentially resulting in brake fade.

rear brakes are about 15% iirc max, so can see why you dont have issues using them on the rear. Just the front of the car scares me tbh
  13. #13
Plus bike brakes are thin, not like the vented ones you find on the front of your saxo.
  14. #14
    front 80% rear 20% i thought?

lets face it! for the hassle of how much it may cost in fabrication you may aswell buy some 4 pots anyway!
