Wanted: RR Readouts

  1. #1
    Bonjour spammers.

I was wondering for those of you that have put your car on a rolling road, whether you'd be so kind as to bosh up a scan or high resolution photograph of the printout.

I'm putting together an excel thingy and need the torque read out across the entire rev range... ideally I'm after a print from a VTS as close to stand as possible but will take anything to get me started.

    Ta!

  6. #6
here you go mate my VTS is totally standard at the mo and this was the print out 5/6 weeks ago, shes a 2000 x plate, 40k miles, fsh and 2 female owners and I dont think the rev neddle has even been past 5000 rpm before me lol

    Brilliant dude thanks!

  8. #8
do you want me to find the one from the derv?
  9. #9
I'll go scan mine and stick it up ...
  10. #10
actually... where's the rpm reading on the x-axis????

    anything!
  12. #12
ill see what i can find.

might be in yorkshire though. if so, will be a week before i can look
  13. #13
  14. #14
no prob mate hope it helps
  15. #15
    vtr-tec's

  16. #16
i wana see cat cams w/o remap
  17. #17
don lower line on mine is unmapped

its just the bhp (which atfer reading what sayer wants is useless)
  18. #18
what did u make un mapped
  19. #19
think it was 144 but not 100% certain
timing was off on the first run too so that needed sorting aswell as the map
  20. #20
    VTS ATW's - Filter, Mani + Zorst.

doesn't annoy me ryannna, just you won't get a recommendation of how to extract max. acceleration out it

  23. #23

what kinda transmission losses do you peeps use?

    foot to the floor ftw!!

Should have a few graphs after jan mate for you to have a nose through.

    rave on

actually yours would be brill if it had x-axis lines... (has the biggest rpm spread - which is what I need)

    do me a favour...

read off the torque values at

    3k
    3.5k
    4k
    etc etc

  26. #26
all the values will be 1-3lb out id guess mate as have to go on guesswork due to the axis going up in 10s

    use still>

as i dont have the paperwork here alexR has it
  27. #27
    also deans one lol

dean shall be hopefully bringing it to the shed day.

hes local to me and a good lad!

know what box he's running? and the ratio's????
  31. #31
    BE box.

Ill ask dean when hes next on msn if he knows the gear cluster used etc.

    tarrr

Just knocked up a quick first draft of the excel sheet...

Currently gives optimum shift changes for max accel.
  33. #33
fancy running mine, seeing as I tend to change gear at 8-8.5k LOL!

was gonna ask actually... gonna have to estimate and interpolate the graph though (it's not level so can use the rulers in PS like I did for Deans)

just need wheel dimensions and gearbox ratio's (inc final drive)

and I'll knock it up for you now

warning though this is first draft... I'm going to tweak it further to include acceleration rates, then inc shift duration too and so on and so on.
  35. #35
    195-50-15.

s2 box so will get ratios in one min for you
  36. #36
    which FD?
  37. #37
    1st 3.41
    2nd 1.95
    3rd 1.35
    4th 1.05
    5th .085

    FD 4.06

going on info off the net s2 rallye
  38. #38
    good news...!

changing just before twating it off the limiter (if it even has one ) will give you a.max

i dont know if ive ever been on the limiter. Alex set it quite high on the emerald, iirc hard cut is 8.5ish now, ian used to have it lower.

would 9k give better accel lol!

Basically my driving it like I stole it method is the best then
  40. #40
looking at shift change graph there is mucho room to keep the rpm as high as possible.

the RR doesn't help because the torque isn't falling away exponentially... although looking at it, its probably just after 8500rpm

but the reduction in torque between each gear is so significant that you could go deep into the 8's (8700+) and still have better a.max than shifting.
  41. #41
I do go deep into the max (why alex moaned at me after seeing brands vid lol)

rev counter only goes to 8k yet i keep it planted well over this! we are going to go and look at the ecu recording and see if it has recroded my max rpm so far, alex thinks i somehow hit over 9k.

Think the saxo gear cluster is a bit shit for this engine tbh
  42. #42
You can determine shift change based on wheel speed (or from the speedo) - if the torque actually crossed between gears...

what a graph? not that's its much help for you tbh
  43. #43
basically you are saying that due to not having a capable tacho use the given speed in each gear to change at for max rpm as this is calculated on rpm settings yo!

    spot on

basically it's wheel speed/vehicle speed vs wheel torque for each gear
  45. #45
    see not that retarded then

at that looks like speeds to change are
    1-2 - 35ish
    2-3 - 62ish
    3-4 - 90ish (i tend to go near 100)
    4-5 - 115ish

obviously the higher gears there seems to be less drop and so i can theoretically hold gear longer
  46. #46
and with a theoretical top speed of 166mph with 8.5k that box is long as fuck lol... i dont want to even look at vtr ratios lol!

    105in 3rd is fun

not quite... if there was an overlap then you should change at the overlap... a.max is dependant on as much wheel torque as possible. the torque output in 2nd gear is no where near as high as 1st gear...

even though there is a drop in torque in first gear, it's still far higher than 2nd

therefore hold on to 1st for as long as possible...

same goes for the other gears
  48. #48
fair enough, i was going by the dip in torque itself rather than in relation to other gears.

1st hold on to as long as possible you need to come out in it dear boy and bring some underwear I can barely hold onto it in first

its interesting readings though espec as the engine is maxing at 7800 for max power.
  49. #49
true man... like you said, really it's the gearbox that's 'letting down' though it's not really anything major tbh, just with a shorter box it would be soooo much quicker still. It kind of highlights a bit of a problem with high revving engines... need more gears (take motorbikes or f1 for instance).

I neeeeeeeed a ride in this thing... I'm due a uncontrollable bowel moment...

anyway bed... off to the motherland to pick up paxo.
  50. #50
I did have an s1 rallye box same gears but with a different FD.

im toying with a 1.4xsi FD on it seeing as i cant get a decent short ratio gearset that doesnt max out at 110 at 8k!!!

It needs a service mate before i cain it again the oil is officially as black as boy whose been sweeping chimneys face.
  51. #51
    4.29 is xsi
    and
    4.54 is the s1 box
  52. #52
could put mine up if you want Ads?
  53. #53
3 plug VTR with basic breathing mods, see what ya can make of this (please), plus it lets you try it on a VTR lol.
    Computer generated one of mine...

    Scan...

I'll plug in numero's when I get the chance... wheel dimensionsSSSS?

  63. #63
When is the shed rolling road ryano!?
