Which Part ?

i've been thinking of selling the sax recently but have decided to keep it & spend a little time & money getting it running smoothly

the car is quite "tappy" when running & i've traced the noise to the part below. what part is this ?? i know the air is fed through it & it seems to be the shutter that is noisy (as i've had a look with the air filter off.

can this part be easily changed or am i safer in paying someone else to do it ?

pretty sure that is the throttle butterfly

If it is 'tappy' it is usually tappets. Changing the oil usually makes this better.

yeah the tappets will be the 1st thing to have adjusted.

changing the oil will help. i'd do that 1st and see if that helps.

could also be injectors, as this is common and if it is its easier to just put up with it

tappets should only tap when cold though i thought??

tappets will tap if they are hydraulic and are worn or spring is going, or if has followers and gap isnt correct or if oil is crap or has thinned because of long use or you have took it out your mates tractor and put it in your car.

the noise definitely seems to be coming from this part

its just had a major service & the oil was changed and everything like the tappets should have been checked
