Roll Cage

  1. #1
Are there any roll cages around that a suitable for standard inteior i.e. dont have to remove seats etc.
As i want to beef up the car incase it all goes bang. (im 6"6, if im squashed in im squashed in)
Will it do anything to mu premium as its supporting the car?
    Cheers

you wil not be able to fit a roll cage for protecton without removing most of the interior, DEFINATLY the rear seats etc

Show cages can be fitted and keep the interior but wont do feck all if you crash.

For a proper cage your looking at a 10 point bolt/weld in cage wich will weigh around 25-30kgs

Im not sure what i want to do then. I dont want to loose the rear seats and i really want a propper cage(none of this shiny shit)

well a proper cage means no interior lol

basicaly.... you dont see a track car with rear seats do you??

Or the GT3 porche, has a rol cage, not rear seats....

Its a do or dont do situation really lol

    half cage ?
  6. #6
to fit even a half cage you need to remove the rear seats rear doorcards the b pillar covers and cut the carpet to weld in the mount plates

if it has front legs you may have clearance issues with the front doorcards

also i strongly reccomend not using a cage and standard seats as theres a big pipe by your head and you will move about on bumps ect
heabutting a cage wont be fun

Yes but even custom made cages will incur all the problems discussed above.
If it's a track car, put a cage in. If it's a road car, don't
The other thing to consider (which was lightly touched on above) is that in a caged car, without a helmet on, you stand to do a lot of damage to yourself in an accident. Standard interiors are designed to absorb impacts (from occupants) and make an accident as painless as possible. Even with padding on, the cage is a pretty hard object. If you're harnessed in to a bucket seat this will be less of a problem...
    Raz

Oh, and it will affect your insurance, as damage to the car will be transmitted by the rollcage and cause more damage elsewhere. Insurance companies don't like them.

    Why not?

People cage 1.3 mini's 1.2 fiestas etc etc

You can race ANY caron track, butif its in a compotition you HAVE to have a cage, so asking "why cage a furio"" is abit silly.

Dont have to have big power to have a big crash ...

no but having track insureance is beneficial

plus if its a shitbox they may not let you on track with it
gotta think if its not roadworth will it take track abuse (answer is prolly not)
  17. #17
Oh yea i understand that, i jst went liek get one with dents all over and stuff, not liek one that is going to collapse lol

Would probs take out track insurance yes, but would try keep things cheap nut jst have a little fun in it tbh
  18. #18
tbh taking a mint car on track is prolly a bad idea
it will get a dent or scrape in the end

but track insureance is rather expensive
  19. #19
yea thats my point you see, get a little old mini, nothing flash, bang some dents out of it, make sure all is ok underneath, and jst track it, if it gets damaged i wont be botherd, just wack it back on the drive and fix it when i can.

If i stuff it then it goes to scrap with not to much wasted etc
  20. #20
only thing i would do is deffo cage it
and get some seats and harnesses

cause minis if you have a big off (which is easier than you think trust me) it will just fold up like a tin
  21. #21
oh yea it wud defo be caged and would only be putting one seat in and probs have harness bars etc on the cage

Dont no if this will DEFO happen, just an idea but would be kool, even if it wasnt a 1.3 it would still be fun on track!!
  22. #22
dont need to be fast to be fun
i was gunna rack my 1.1 at donny with guys like jpsaxo and scoobys ect up to caterhams and 355 full race spec ferraris lol

its all about having a laugh tbh
  23. #23
    Yea exactly!!!

I will look intoit and if it goes ahead a progress thread will DEFO be put up on here
  24. #24
    yea man
be a bit like my westcoast
cheap fun little car for just having a laugh in
  25. #25
    Minter tbh MINI
  26. #26
    dont look too shabby
  27. #27
Probs get one cheaper, around the £300 mark, little project, not botherd if its batterd and beaten, aslong as it runs and doesnt have no structual damage all is good tbh
