what would be the best exhaust system for a vtr...
exhaust systems

#1
-
#2depends what you want mate
best is an opinion so there will be a lot of different ideas in here
plus its asked daily so search in future -
#3most power and noise..
-
#4well dya want rasp or pure volume??
id say either a supersprint (raspy)
or a piper or ashley (volume)
unless you have 400 quid then get a btb (if you can find one) -
#6piper, ashley cheaper alternative, supersprint for rasp.. as said above.
-
#7omp inox exhausts ??
-
#8scorpion for the fast road sound, deep bassy

if you want your car to sound like a rally car you want to see Kam Racing about a supersprint system, or you could just SEARCH! -
#9the only way you will get power out of a standard cat back system is by decatting it first.
i have a magnex on my vts and love it not to loud to sound like a chavs nova but loud enough to get noticed. -
#10so basically you have just said a straight through exhasut with no silencers wont gain you anyhting without a decat? no offence mate, but your talking bollox. id expect at least 3bhp.Quote:the only way you will get power out of a standard cat back system is by decatting it first.

lol at they chavs nova bit though, lmao1 user thanked this post: -
#11very true, however Decat the exhaust for the FULL effect.
-
#12Im not talking bolloxs my friend the gains you get are minimal, only full potential is when decat the car...
-
#13i really think you are but you didnt say minimal you said " the only way you will get power is with a decat" a cat back exhaust system might net you 2-3bhp depending on the type, but i will agree a de cat, is the way to go. but just a cat back will still get you a gain in bhp.
-
#14it depends on the system
ive seen some systems reduce power due to being a bad design
you can get a few from a cat back yes
youll gain maybe 1 or 2 from a decat
same wth a mani
all in all id say fully sorted exhaust could find around 8-10 bhp maximum
but over 10 from just an exhaust is a lot
usually with an induction kit aswell youll se a gain on average of about 12 bhp -
#15Its hardly talking bollocks is it now is it and there really is no point in being so blunt...
-
#16If I may resort back to the original question
Anto, the best exhaust for a vtr consists of the following:
4-2-1 heat wrapped stainless steel manifold
Decat (Mk2 will be covered in the above)
stainless steel system (you will find a middle silencer will work better than straight through on a vtr). this can be magnex, Piper, Scorpion etc..
tailpipe to be no more than 3.5" but that is another story!
thanks -
#17Cat back, decat? The clue's in the title, cat back joins after the cat, so how can it decat it?

I agree with the poster above me, had a straight through system with no silencer on, swapped it for a system known for being good for them, with a silencer and the difference was definately noticeable.
Morale is, dont just get some random pipe and hope for the best. Pipes known for gains, chances are they'll have a centre silencer. -
#18my vtr has a cat back stanless steel system and its amazing
-
#20i have a mk2 saxo vtr. i brought system of ebay for £60. its a gt3 stanless steel middle section. if you have a mk2 vtr it will fit straight on as a cat back system because the cat is in the monifold. if you have a mk1vtr then it will de-cat in because the cat is in the middle section of the exhuast. hope this makes sense.
-
#21so its an ebay special?
-
#22it is main buy a company in kent iirc.
-
#23just buy a scorpion system and dont worry too much about it! wo'nt make that much difference anyway.
spend your money on suspension & brakes instead
