i looking to do alot of trackdays next year. currently runnin my car on a mix of shite tyres due to the credit crunch but have used slicks in the past. very good once ya get the hang of it. but do get the feeling i am recking my car. i got semi - race suspension but the joints etc must be getting wrecked ??- i think. also with global warmingthe weather is always shite. nothing more depression than turning up to a trackday wen the weather is shite. so was wondering wt peeps would recommend. never invested in tyres really cos of the expense but i am looking at the toyo r888. i no they are doin a group buy on ere. but wont be looking to buy yet. they look like cut slicks really. so my guess is - show them a puddle and u'll be in a tyre wall?? does any1 have any experience with these. or wot would they recommend. also how long will they last in the real world cos i use my car regularly. how much are they also. cheers dudes.

not personally run 888s (or any track tyres yet)
but i know a few lads who have
    there very good on track
but if its a bit damp i would say not to run them

followed a lad on a set in pissing rain a few months bad and it id look rather twitchy and he had a little moment on a roundabout when he fed in the power but there was a layer of standing water on the road so mort tyres would struggle in that condition

using daily i wouldnt really mate as they are qite a soft tyre and also as said arent ideal in the wet
ive seen a set be quite worn in half a day at donnington but ive heard of them lasting a few trackdays it depends on your driving style tbh

if u are doing alot of trackdays next year u will be better off with two sets of wheels one for track use with r888 on or yoko ao48 . and a set of road tyres to drive the car to the track on and use if its wet on track . the is the best way to do it , u cannot be 100 percent commited on track when u have to drive home on the same tyres u been on track on thinking will they be road legal when i finished the trackday

r888 will be fine. as long as you have them warmed up they are great in all condtions apart from VERY heavy rainfall and thats only due to aquaplaning.

firstly please write in proper english, its a fucking nightmare trying to help someone when its hard to read what they are asking.

R888s I have used, they were ok on a trip myself and a friend did to the rinf inc travelling in the rain. Having big power though on uk roads in bad wet conditions it wasnt alot of fun, nor the snow! that was very scary.

I have a second set of rims with road tyres on to save my R888s for pure track work

I can second that, used them at Mallory when it was damp and they still gave huge improvements over "standard" tyres!

I used 048Rs on a water logged Castle Coombe and still managed to run rings around everyone on road tyres.

Take it easy on the first few corners to get the heat into them and then go for it
